Rewarding Relaxation

With a very appreciated half-day this Wednesday, our English class spent the half-hour in the media center. Instead of grinding through more work, we took a moment to pause and relax for a bit. Our new library is great for just that. The spaciousness and relative quietness compared to the rest of the building helps to detach the library from the rest of Troy High. In addition, the furniture is amazing and great for unwinding.
As always, relaxing music adds on to the experience. As an avid Mario fan, I decided to listen to some great Nintendo music. Unfortunately Nintendo doesn’t upload their music on Spotify, so I have to resort to YouTube playlists, but check out my small playlist of mostly relaxing video game music:
Now with all of the background elements in place in your imagination, I can tell you that calm half-hour was very rewarding. It was a great break from everything else and allowed me to zoom out a bit. This zooming out is necessary for all of us. No matter how busy we are, it is important to take breaks at the proper times. Of course, proper timing is a very crucial part, as breaks at the wrong times can be quite disastrous.

These breaks will look different in each scenario. In the context of an hour-long assignment, a few breaks every hour might be best. However, on a more macro-scale, in the case of a month-long project, it might be better to dedicate a few days to take a breather. Regardless of how you go about implementing your breaks, relaxing should become an
essential part of your routine.
